** All teams must arrive on site and be registered by 9:00 pm and must be under a tent supplied by the team.
**Meat will be supplied, but all teams must supply their own ingredients, cooking equipment, presentation plating, etc. No power will be supplied. Any decorations must be supplied by contestant for their booth. Contestants must keep all material inside their designated area.
**All preparation of meat must be done from scratch on site with fresh ingredients in a sanitary manner conforming with the health department requirements. Health department requirements also include that you must have soap, running water (this can be from a cooler with a spout, and towel for washing hands at your site.
**All contestants will be responsible for clean-up of their area during and following cook-off taking care to leave property in its original condition.
** All entries must be turned in during time stated at cook-off to qualify for judging. Hand in time will be 12:30 pm and time will be posted at registration booth. Contestants must taste their own meat if required by judges.
** All entries will be judged in the following categories: a) Color b) Taste c) Presentation
** All contestants must keep their meat at a safe serving temperature. Contestants will not be allowed to sell their meat to the public. Contestants will provide a sample in cups furnished by the festival to only those who have bought a bracelet which must be fastened on the person’s wrist. There will be food vendors on Saturday who will be selling BBQ and chicken as well as other foods.
** It is preferred that contestant have liability insurance---but if not, the cooks and the person sponsoring a booth must sign a release form in the event someone gets sick off of their meat or hurt on their equipment. If you have insurance, have your company fax a certificate with Blacksburg Business Assoc. and Iron City Festival on it.
** Best overall prize of $500.00 and a festival t-shirt will be given to the winner with the best meat covering all categories. A 1st place prize of $75.00, festival t-shirt, and trophy will be given to the winner in each category---butts, ribs, leg quarters.
** Absolutely NO beer or alcoholic beverages, alcoholic decorations or banners will be allowed on premises.
** Portable bathrooms will be available at festival site.
** Set-up will be downtown Blacksburg. Loud noises from vehicles, radios, cd players, etc. will not be allowed into late night and early morning.
** This is a NON-SANCTIONED event.
** Entries should be mailed, along with $125.00 entry fee to Iron City Festival P.O. Box 16.…Blacksburg, SC 29702 to be received no later than April 4th, 2008.
